In this class given at Yamunā Devī’s āśrama at Śaraṇāgati in B.C. Canada on June 29th 2001, Śrīla Narasiṅgha Mahārāja begins by speaking about Ratha Yātrā and it’s connection with the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam. He explains that because our movement is based on the Bhāgavatam, we are actually a Puranic movement, and not Vedic. He describes the first verse of Bhāgavatam as the samādhi of Vyāsa and how this verse is the essence of the whole Bhāgavatam and how both the Bhāgavatam and Bhagavad-gītā have a conclusion, and that there are external and internal meanings in both. The conclusion of both the Bhagavad-gītā and Bhāgavatam is surrender to the Vraja conception. Mahārāja talks about the secondary and primary appearance of Jagannātha, and how in His primary aspect, He is a vipralambha-mūrti, feeling separation from Vṛndāvana.
During questions and answers, Narasiṅgha Mahārāja speaks about the worship of Narasiṁha and Gaura-Gadādhara, the last message of the Bhāgavatam, hating the sin and not the sinner, banning devotees from temples, turmoil amongst devotees, aggressive preaching, cooperation between missions, the temple of understanding, omniscience, bath at Rādhā-kunḍa, and the worship of Govardhana.
